.no
Last checked 2026-08-19Purpose: Norway's country code, the default identity for Norwegian organisations and residents.
Eligibility: Restricted. Organisations need an organisation number and registration in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities; private individuals must be 18 or over and registered in the National Population Register with a national identity number. All subscribers must keep a Norwegian mailing address.
None of the registrars we track sell .no at retail — it's available only through registry-accredited registrars (see Local registry and rules above for the official list).
Norid A/S operates the registry and publishes the registrar list. The requirement is a genuine eligibility gate, not paperwork: a foreign buyer with no Norwegian entity or residency cannot hold a .no name.
